About me
My name is Yue Qin and I am a PhD candidate of the School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh.
My research focuses on leveraging machine learning and large language models (LLMs) for informing flood preparedness in urban navigation. More specifically, we are interested in gathering flood knowledge from open data to facilitate navigation decision-making among multiple stakeholders. For instance, which route should people take to avoid potential floods given the weather forecast of next week? It is essential yet surprisingly hard to find answers to questions as simple as that given all the techniques and tools at our disposal.
More broadly, I am interested in spatial cognition and spatiotemporal modeling to understand urban navigation and mobility. I genuienly believe how we perceive, process, store, and utilize spatial information is fundamental to how we interact with our environment.
I also love books (To kill a mocking bird and Stephen King are both fascinating), music (Coldplay and Lily Allen are classic), movies (anything Keira Knightley), and food!
